Pageant Contestant Guidelines

You are reading this information because you are interested in becoming our next Miss WV Freedom Festival! Doesn’t that sound exciting?

Below, you'll find the guidelines for each category, so you can get started!

Select the appropriate age range to jump to the appropriate category guidelines. You must use the age that you will be at date of competition.

Mrs. West Virginia Freedom Festival

  • You must be age 22 or older.

  • You must be married and able to provide a valid marriage certificate.

  • You may have children.

  • You cannot hold a current title

  • You will be expected to participate in the parade,

  • You will be expected to participate in photos / promotion / media

  • You will attend every event during the Festival, as directed by the President.

  • You will be honorable (including family) and conduct yourself as a representative of The West Virginia Freedom Festival. This includes, but not limited to, proper attire (no revealing clothing), proper conduct with friends and family in public, hospitality to the community must be constant, and conduct must be among the highest standards. Any conduct found to be disrespectful by the Festival Committee or President will result in stripping of the crown, and the First Runner up will assume the crown.

  • You will agree to return to the WV Freedom Festival the following year to crown the New Queen and participate in all promotions for the event as directed by the President. You will also serve as a “recruiter” for the following year's Festival, getting girls involved in that year's contest.

Queen - Miss West Virginia Freedom Festival

  • You must be between the ages of 18-21

  • Never been married

  • Never given birth to a child

  • You cannot hold a current title

  • You will be expected to participate in the parade,

  • You will be expected to participate in photos / promotion / media

  • You may not run for another title until your reign is over (the following year's festival).

  • You must attend the West Virginia Fairs and Festivals Pageant in January of the following year, and compete for the title of Miss West Virginia Fairs and Festivals. This competition is very competitive, and includes interview, commercial competition, street wear and evening gown. You will be expected during various times in the pageant to speak, so you will be expected to be prepared in the months prior to the competition.

  • You will attend every event during the Festival, as directed by the President.

  • You will be honorable (including parents) and conduct yourself as a representative of The West Virginia Freedom Festival. This includes, but not limited to, proper attire (no revealing clothing), proper conduct with friends and/or boyfriends in public, hospitality to the community must be constant, and conduct must be among the highest standards. Any conduct found to be disrespectful by the Festival Committee or President will result in stripping of the crown, and the First Runner up will assume the crown.

West Virginia Freedom Festival Princess

  • You must be between the ages of 15-17

  • Never been married

  • You will be expected to participate in photos / promotion / media

  • You must agree to attend the Miss West Virginia Fairs and Festivals Pageant to watch the Miss West Virginia Freedom Festival Queen compete to win the state title. You will wear your crown and sash during the festivities.

  • You will attend every event during the Festival, as directed by the President.

  • You will be honorable (including parents) and conduct yourself as a representative of The West Virginia Freedom Festival. This includes, but not limited to, proper attire (no revealing clothing), proper conduct with friends and/or boyfriends in public, hospitality to the community must be constant, and conduct must be among the highest standards. Any conduct found to be disrespectful by the Festival Committee or President will result in stripping of the crown, and the First Runner up will assume the crown.

Teen Miss West Virginia Freedom Festival

  • You must be between the ages of 13-14

  • Never been married

  • Never given birth to a child

  • You cannot hold a current title

  • You will be expected to participate in the parade

  • You will be expected to participate in photos / promotion / media

  • You must agree to attend the Miss West Virginia Fairs and Festivals Pageant to watch the Miss West Virginia Freedom Festival Queen compete to win the state title. You will wear your crown and sash during the festivities.

  • You will attend every event during the Festival, as directed by the President.

  • You will be honorable (including parents) and conduct yourself as a representative of The West Virginia Freedom Festival. This includes, but not limited to, proper attire (no revealing clothing), proper conduct with friends and/or boyfriends in public, hospitality to the community must be constant, and conduct must be among the highest standards. Junior Miss West Virginia Freedom Festival

  • You must be between the ages of 11-12

  • Never been married

  • Never given birth to a child

  • You cannot hold a current title

  • You will be expected to participate in the parade

  • You will be expected to participate in photos / promotion / media

  • You will be honorable (including parents) and conduct yourself as a representative of The West Virginia Freedom Festival. This includes, but not limited to, proper attire (no revealing clothing), proper conduct with friends and/or boyfriends in public, hospitality to the community must be constant, and conduct must be among the highest standards. Any conduct found to be disrespectful by the Festival Committee or President will result in stripping of the crown, and the First Runner up will assume the crown.

Little Miss West Virginia Freedom Festival

  • You must be between the ages of 9-10

  • You cannot hold a current title

  • You will be expected to participate in the parade

  • You will be expected to participate in photos / promotion / media

  • You will be honorable (including parents) and conduct yourself as a representative of The West Virginia Freedom Festival. This includes, but not limited to, proper attire (no revealing clothing), proper conduct with friends and/or boyfriends in public, hospitality to the community must be constant, and conduct must be among the highest standards. Any conduct found to be disrespectful by the Festival Committee or President will result in stripping of the crown, and the First Runner up will assume the crown.

Cutie Miss West Virginia Freedom Festival

  • You must be between the ages of 7-8

  • You cannot hold a current title

  • You will be expected to participate in the parade

  • You will be expected to participate in photos / promotion / media

  • You will be honorable (including parents) and conduct yourself as a representative of The West Virginia Freedom Festival. This includes, but not limited to, proper attire (no revealing clothing), proper conduct with friends and/or boyfriends in public, hospitality to the community must be constant, and conduct must be among the highest standards. Any conduct found to be disrespectful by the Festival Committee or President will result in stripping of the crown, and the First Runner up will assume the crown.

Tiny Miss West Virginia Freedom Festival

  • You must be between the ages of 4-6

  • You cannot hold a current title

  • You will be expected to participate in the parade

  • You will be expected to participate in photos / promotion / media

Toddler Miss West Virginia Freedom Festival

  • You must be between the ages of 2-3

  • You cannot hold a current title

  • You will be expected to participate in the parade

  • You will be expected to participate in photos / promotion / media

  • You will be honorable (including parents) and conduct yourself as a representative of The West Virginia Freedom Festival. Baby Miss West Virginia Freedom Festival

  • You must be between the ages of 6 - 24 months

  • You cannot hold a current title

  • You will be expected to participate in the parade

  • You will be expected to participate in photos / promotion / media

  • You will be honorable (including parents) and conduct yourself as a representative of The West Virginia Freedom Festival. This includes, but not limited to, proper attire (no revealing clothing), proper conduct with friends and/or boyfriends in public, hospitality to the community must be constant, and conduct must be among the highest standards. Any conduct found to be disrespectful by the Festival Committee or President will result in stripping of the crown, and the First Runner up will assume the crown.
